Unit 39 - Undertake Image Asset Management

First thing to do before downloading an image is to make sure it isnt copy written, there is no need in doing work editing it to then find out after all the hard work and effort you put into the work that you cant use it. With master copys there like a back up in a way, in case your computer gets a virus and has to be whiped then somewhere else is a copy wich you can then transfer back onto your computer, a area in which you can keep a copy is online software such as "DropBox" or hardwear such as a memory stick. business could also use image assest management which is situations like advertising an advert.

When a image is stored on a computer the only main threat of loosing you work is, accidently deleting it which would only make it go to your trash, you could simply get it back, somone else deleting your work which again you could go through the same process as before, but.. if a virus attacks the hardware then you may loose everything, to prevent this from happening you can buy anti-virus software such as "NORTON ANTI-VIRUS"
If the images are printed and are being handled then to protect them images simple procedures such as gloves should be used.  Ensuring that image integrity is retained is simple you could just simply use copys instead of using the origional, also not using any teqniques that could ruin the image itself. When dealing with colour management certain procedures have to be done correctly.  Constantly checking the images through the whole process would be the most suitable in my opinion, you can do this by using a computer and its display monitor to check that colour management is being carried out correctly.
